Mary Deane Feir

Mary Deane Feir passed away at her home in McLean, Virginia, on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, with beloved family members at her side. The loving daughter of Deane and Mildred Beiter, Mary was 81 years old at the time of her passing, after having courageously battled cancer for many years.

Mary was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, and had one sister, Barbara. Their Dad was a dentist in the Army, so throughout his years of service, the family experienced many wonderful opportunities to live and travel abroad. It was during one of these postings that Mary met the love of her life, Phil, himself an Army officer, and together they would also go on to enjoy a very successful military career. The two were wed in Panama City, Panama, on 24 June 1961.

Within a year of their nuptials, Mary and Phil's family began to with the birth of their eldest child, Tom; and this birth was followed in succession by the blessed births of his sisters, Becky and Bobbie.

Following the conclusion of Phil's military career and his subsequent retirement from the Army, Mary started working as a travel agent, a job she thoroughly enjoyed, especially since she was a living encyclopedia of places to see and visit. In fact, within a few short years, she launched her own travel agency, and she continued to work this successful business right up to the time of her death.

Mary is lovingly survived by her children Tom Feir and his wife Tara; Becky Wellde and her husband Phil; Bobbie Fetherston and her husband Bryan; her sister Barbara Simons; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

A Funeral service will be held in the Old Post Chapel at West Point, New York, on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with internment to follow at the West Point Cemetery.
