Patricia Rose Wolfe McGrew: January 8, 1925 – January 25, 2017. When you are born, you cry, and the world rejoices. When you die, you rejoice, and the world cries. Patti died peacefully at her home on Tuesday morning. In her 92 years, her love, wisdom and generosity touched countless lives. The world is crying for her now.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dexter W. McGrew, Sr. She leaves behind a daughter, Sharon Granzow and son-in-law Ed; a son, Dexter McGrew, Jr.; her granddaughters: Jennifer Granzow and her children Dale and Erik; Jackie Granzow Florence and her husband Scott; Chrishna McGrew Owen, her husband Link and their children, Josh, Micayla, Ryan and Carly; Daniere McGrew and her children Daelin, Kaiden and Tayah; Stephanie McGrew Crowder and her children Alaysia, Eva, Gracie, Emma and Bella; and her grandson Dexter McGrew, III. She leaves behind a total of 2 children, 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and we will all miss her terribly.

In Patti's lifetime she won many figure skating competitions, founded Early Childhood Development Centers of Montgomery County (first preschools in the area), owned and managed a small hotel, raised children, went on many sailing trips with her husband even though she was afraid of boats, took a flying lesson in spite of her fear of flying, joyfully provided years of nursing care for her own elderly without complaining, rescued many dogs and cats for over 70 years, worked as an office assistant in her late 70s, assisted with wildlife rehab and so much more. She lived a very full and meaningful life and we should all try to live like her. She taught us all so much including compassion, dedication, love, patience, and kindness while providing endless life lessons and advice. The world is a better place because of her life.

Patti loved all animals, especially cats and enjoyed visiting Briggs Animal Adoption Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Briggs Animal Adoption Center, PO Box 1023, Charles Town, WV 25414; or baacs.org.

Services will be held at the Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. Online condolences and fond memories of Patti may be offered to the family at www.moneyandking.com
