Donald M. Troup

Died peacefully July 26 at his home in Vienna surrounded by his family at the age of 94. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Adorine Troup; his sister Marianne Baden; his four children, Rosemary Ostroski (Dave), Greg Troup (Bambi), Brian Troup (Kim) and Tina Duffus (Joe); his ten grandchildren; Katelin Young (Nick), Paige Ostroski, Shannon Randall (Jason), Christine Troup, Christopher Troup, Meghan Troup, Michael Troup, Connor Duffus, Marnee Duffus and Dylan Duffus; and two great grandchildren, Gavin Randall and Aiden Randall.
Born in Harrisburg, PA in 1922, he attended Harrisburg Catholic H.S. and was a proud graduate of Mount Saint Mary's College. He was commissioned in 1943 and served as a Naval Officer during World War II in the European North Africa Middle Eastern Theater as well as the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. After the war he completed his graduate studies at Catholic University. He was recalled to active duty in 1950 and served throughout the Korean War. In 1953 he joined the Central Intelligence Agency and served in various senior positions focused on the collection and analysis of political, military, scientific and economic intelligence. He retired from the CIA after 28 years.
Donald was known as the loving and doting patriarch of the Troup family as well as a world class lover of dogs.
Relatives and friends are invited to Donald's visitation at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church Chapel, 8601 Wolf Trap Rd., Vienna, VA on Friday, July 29 at 10 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow and be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
